DIRECTOR - KATIE SEIDLER

Katie Seidler is a Clinical and Forensic Psychologist who is engaged in private practice enterprise within the Sydney area. Katie has an undergraduate and honours degree in Psychology from the University of Sydney and a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology from Macquarie University. She is studying towards a Doctorate in Philosophy (PhD) within the Psychology Department of Macquarie University. Katie's Masters research was in the area of attachment deficits in sexual offenders and her PhD research is seeking to explore relationship, identity and cultural issues amongst violent offenders. She has published articles and presented conference papers in the area of offending behaviour.

Katie has been working within the correctional system since 1996 and has experience in both the juvenile justice and adult correctional system, providing assessment and rehabilitation services to offenders in both custodial centres and within the community. Katie has extensive experience in the design, implementation and facilitation of group programmes across both the juvenile and adult correctional system.

She has facilitated groups in the following areas:

  • Sex offender treatment,
  • Violence prevention,
  • Personal Effectiveness Programme,
  • Victim empathy,
  • Emotion awareness,
  • Women's issues,
  • Relapse prevention,
  • Music therapy.

In addition, she has designed and facilitated groups in the following areas:

  • Domestic violence,
  • Anger management,
  • Sexuality,
  • Parenting,
  • Relationships,
  • Pre-release planning.

Katie is presently running a private practice in the area of clinical and forensic psychology and this practice includes:

  • Assessment of offenders,
  • Individual treatment of offenders,
  • Clinical, medicolegal and neuropsychological assessments,
  • Clinical treatment,
  • Group facilitation,
  • Consultation.

Katie is an Honorary Associate of the Psychology Department of Macquarie University and is involved in the provision of professional training to post-graduate students within the field of psychology.


NEIL RODGERS B. A. (Hons.), H.D.E., M.Ed, C.H.T., MAPS

Neil Rodgers is a consultant psychologist and executive coach who has been in practice for over twenty years. He has taught programs in psychology, counselling and psychotherapy in universities and other tertiary institutions in South Africa, Canada, New Zealand and Australia during this time. He has a real passion for Group Work and as well as running his own groups, has taught units in Group Work at the Masters level at the University of Natal, South Africa, at the Eastern Institute of Technology in Napier, New Zealand, at the University of Canberra and at Macquarie University where he currently teaches on a casual basis.

Neil balances his practice and his teaching, believing that his teaching keeps his practice current and acts as an on-going quality assurance process for his clients. He believes that the professional and the personal are different sides of the same coin and is as committed to his own on-going development as he is to facilitating and supporting the personal and professional development of his clients.
